From Wall Street Player to the Prince of Pinehurst … there’s positive power in transformation.
Just ask Bob Barmore, who, while making his mark in NYC’s Financial District, took a life-changing trip to the Sandhills of North Carolina in the late ’90s.
“I fell in love with Pinehurst and began bringing clients here,” he says. “After I retired from Wall Street, I felt the need to do something. Everyone always says, ‘Do something that you are passionate about.’ I am passionate about Pinehurst.”
Part of that passion has included helping others also discover the good life in Pinehurst – as a real estate professional with Coldwell Banker Advantage. Since 2007, Bob has helped numerous clients buy or sell luxury and investment properties. Golfing, gated and country club communities are of special interest. Bob lives what he shows.
“I really love helping people achieve their Pinehurst dream,” says Bob, who makes his own home on Donald Ross Drive.
Bob is happiest when he is immersed in his community – wearing the hat of ambassador well. He’s a volunteer at the Pinehurst Welcome Center, a golf rules professional, and he served on the TV rules committee for the 2014 U.S. Open. He is also a licensed auctioneer and notary. In 2014, he was named Citizen of the Year by the Pinehurst-Southern Pines Association of Realtors.
His daily routine is a stark departure from his “past life”: “Previously, I lived on a 600-acre farm in Steeles Tavern Virginia. Very rural. It was 1 ½ miles to a hard-surface road. I commuted to New York City for about 20 years, taking a flight out on Monday morning and returning home on Friday. During the week, I stayed at the New York Athletic Club.”
Of his time working as a Wall Street trader, he says, “I underwrote and distributed debt securities around the globe. I was Gordon Gekko!”
Today, Bob is thrilled about assisting his real estate clients, who praise him for his market knowledge, negotiating skills, and attention to detail. When not working, Bob enjoys spending time with his family, including four Westies and two cats, and frequently attending estate sales with his wife.
